This full day course will cover the diagnosis and treatment of common feline emergencies and subsequent critical care.
We will review the approach to, and treatment of, common causes of life-threatening feline illness and injury affecting the neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular systems. This course will also cover the important aspects of critical care in cats, focusing on optimising homeostasis and preventing complications.
Topics to be covered include:
Review of pathophysiology: mechanisms of shock
Triage and major body systems assessment
Neurological disorders: diagnosis and treatment
Respiratory system disorders: diagnosis and treatment
Cardiovascular system disorders: diagnosis and treatment
Critical care: Kirby’s rule of 20
