Effective management options for our osteoarthritis (OA) patients are changing. This change is driven by advances in therapeutics, but just as importantly, due to a culture shift in the awareness of a need to develop multimodal management plans. In this way we can collectively address many elements contributing to patients’ OA pain and poor mobility.
This course will review the current evidence and debate around new pharmaceutical and intra-articular therapeutics, provide an update on pain management in OA, have interactive case discussion scenarios and seek to provide insight into how OA clinics can be set up and delivered successfully in practice.
Topics to be covered include:
Medical therapeutics update
Intra-articular therapeutics and decision-making
OA case scenario discussion: ‘what, when and why’
Chronic OA management: why we must stay positive about chronic disease
Assessment and review of OA: why once isn’t enough
Measuring progress: CROM questionnaires and other tools
‘Feline’ a little creaky? : update on OA in cats
