Banbury, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom

We are working with a large, reputable independent practice offering separate, dedicated small animal, equine and farm care across the beautiful Cotswolds. They are looking for a friendly veterinary nurse to join a large SA Nursing team at their hospital with occasional branch work. You would be joining a well-established team which includes 18 RVN’s and 2 Student Nurses. They have developed a structured career pathway to support your ambition anywhere from Nursing Assistant to Senior Nurse and are therefore welcoming applications from RVN’s at any stage of their career.

Although they are a mixed practice, you role would be working solely in the Small Animal Team. They have a fully dedicated Reception Team and an OOH answering service so you can spend your time ensuring the welfare of our animals and delivering clinical care to the highest standard.

WORKING PATTERN

The full time role is 40 hours per week which can be worked 4 x 10 hour shifts with inclusion in the weekend OOH rota (days and nights), currently 1:5. They are proud to provide their own OOH to clients and there are no mid week nights for this role as they have their own dedicated mid week Night Nurses. There is no lone working as they also have our own Night Vet Team and additional nursing assistant support when required.

They recognise the importance of a good work/life balance and therefore if full time doesn’t suit your circumstances, they are open to weekday, part-time working patterns with weekends still included or even working just weekends only as an option.

THE ROLE

The role includes all aspects of nursing within a busy hospital environment using state of the art equipment and includes an element of Lab work. They see a great variety of cases and a number of emergencies daily so being able to multi-task and respond to urgent requests calmly and efficiently is a great quality to bring. The SA Team including all the Vets, Nurses and Receptionists are fully committed to providing the very best care and you will find their ethos is to support each other fully till each case is complete.

A day in the life:

Their nurses' nurse' and use their clinical skills to improve patient care.

Nurses rotate in different roles, ensuring you see and care for a wide variety of cases. The two main roles are a Kennels Nurse, with inpatients and day patients in your care. Inpatients are closely monitored at frequent intervals throughout the day or continuously for intensive care. Observations are key to the patient's care, and any clinical changes are brought to the attention of the case veterinary surgeon directly. Or an Ops Nurse, where you play a vital role in peri-operative nursing. They have a busy and varied ops schedule allowing you to utilise your surgical nursing through a variety of cases. They have a variety of monitoring equipment available including multi-parameter monitors, pulse oximeters, doppler blood pressure machine, and a separate ECG machine to aid us in anaesthesia monitoring.

CPD

They actively encourage all nurses to undertake certificates; the opportunity is there if you want it! Currently, they have 2 nurses undertaking certificates which are fully sponsored and 3 students going though qualification.
