West Yorkshire, United Kingdom

This reputable, small animal practice in West Yorkshire is in need of a full time dental / anaesthetic nurse to join them. The role is full time, working 35-40 hours per week across 4 days. It also has a shared 1 in 4 weekend rota.

The hospital has a large multi-disciplinary team of around 70 colleagues and they are looking for an experienced nurse with a passion for Surgery, Anaesthesia  and primarily Dentistry.

The hospital is family run, RCVS Accredited Hospital and Emergency Service Clinic, providing OOH and Referral support to 19 referring veterinary practices in the region.

The referral services they offer include orthopaedic & soft tissue surgery, medicine, oncology, laparoscopy, endoscopy, imaging (both ultrasonography & CT), as well as a busy Dental Practice; providing both general, preventative and referral dental services in-house Monday to Friday.

This requires a nurse who is comfortable providing anaesthetic support to all procedures, surgeries (both general and referral), and dentistry at the hospital. They are primarily looking for a nurse passionate about dentistry, who would spend the majority of their shift coordinating dental clinics, running/stocking/overseeing the IM3 purpose-built Dental Suite, doing dentals (inc. Schedule 3 procedures) and providing/overseeing the anaesthetic nursing support in the Dental Business.

They have a Post Graduate Certificate Veterinary Surgeon in Dentistry who runs a daily workflow of dental clinics, first opinion, preventative and referral procedures.

Ideally they are looking for a Dental RVN :

• Who has, or is working towards a nursing certificate in Dentistry
• Experience in performing full mouth dental radiographs would be essential
• Knowledge of some advanced procedures such as interdental wiring/temporary crown extensions/incline planes as examples would be beneficial but not essential
• Responsible for proper maintenance of all dental equipment, ensuring the dental suite is in good working order ie. restocking of consumable materials.
• Ideally experience and enthusiasm for nurse led dental clinics ie. seeing patients back for post op rechecks, seeing clients/patients for general oral health checks - encouraging toothbrushing as an example - large scope to expand on this so need someone who is passionate about furthering client’s education
• Responsible for internal/external referrals and responsible for the management of the dentistry diary – ie. booking procedures and following up on providing estimates to clients.
• Organising in-house staff training/CPD relating to dentistry – ie. proper maintenance (sharpening) of dental instruments can also expand this to the other consulting nurses in order to raise awareness of common dental problems.

The benefits of this role includes:

• In-house support and training from certificate holders- Vet and Nurse
• Paid memberships- RCVS, VDS, BVNA
• Generous CPD allowance and support development of specific interests. Certificate sponsorship encouraged
• Pension, income protection, life insurance
• Discounts
• Access to Our reward hub giving exclusive discounts across a range of high street retails, supermarkets and more
