This independent group has been serving their local community in Berkshire for well over a century, and it was one of the first in the country to be granted Veterinary Hospital status by the RCVS. They are currently looking for an experienced vet looking for the next step in their career, with a mix of hospital and GP work.
You will be primarily covering their main hospital as well as their two smaller branches situated about 15 minutes away; all of these sites have free parking. As a true independent, they encourage new ideas and invest in the latest equipment and treatments to uphold the highest standards of care, whilst being able to chop and change without going through loopholes.
You’d be working alongside a team of seven vets, two of whom are certificate holders, supported by a team of 11 RVNs along with a fantastic support team of receptionists and admin. They also have excellent retention, with some of their team being with them for over a decade and some for much longer.
As a first-opinion vet, you’ll be someone who strives to offer the highest standard of care and confidently consult, perform first-opinion surgeries, diagnostic investigations, dentistry, workups, and provide inpatient care.
Full-time is 4 days a week; part-time is also considered but still includes weekends. 8.30am to 5.30pm/6.30pm or earlier start if on ops and once a week late finish from 1pm to 9pm. 1 in 5 weekends: consult Sat and Sun morning, on-call till 5pm, Monday and Friday off following week after working this weekend. Emergencies are outsourced to their OOH partner but are brought back by their RVNs for inpatient care overnight.
Salary banding is between £45k to £65k DOE, 27 days and Bank Holidays, CPD allowance and Certificates fully supported, private medical insurance and more health benefits, staff pet scheme, etc.
