Bishop Aukland, County Durham, United Kingdom

Our client is seeking a dedicated Small Animal Vet to join their compassionate and skilled team of 18 veterinarians and 34 nursing staff (RVN, SVN, ACA). They proudly offer a collaborative environment with a separate, devoted out-of-hours (OOH) service team, ensuring comprehensive client care and optimal work-life balance for their staff.
This full-time position averages 34 hours per week; however, part-time applications will be considered. While this role seldom requires sole charge, applicants should be prepared for those rare occasions when it may be necessary.
The right candidate will enjoy a favorable work schedule with weekend duties on a 1:6 basis, with no OOH responsibilities required. Their commitment to professional development is evident with a generous Continuing Professional Development (CPD) allowance of approximately £1750 and 5 days granted for CPD activities. Furthermore, Veterinary Defence Society (VDS) & Professional Memberships are included.
The successful candidate can be provided with temporary accommodation if relocating for the role, although no phone or personal car is included. Nevertheless, there are three practice cars available for work-related use when needed.
Key Responsibilities:

- Deliver high-quality veterinary care and diagnostics
- Work collaboratively with a team of vets, nurses, and support staff
- Communicate effectively with pet owners, offering guidance and support
- Perform routine surgeries confidently and participate in consults
- Be prepared to handle sole charge responsibilities on rare occasions
- Provide care for a diverse range of referrals, including medicine, surgery, and diagnostic imaging

Requirements:

- Competent in all types of routine operations and capable of sole charge if necessary
- Confidence in consultations, with 15-minute consult times
- Fluent in using the Robovet computer operating system, or willing to learn
- Proficiency in utilizing practice equipment, including scopes, digital X-ray, ultrasound devices, laparoscopic surgical equipment, and advanced laboratory tools
- Experience in small animal practice is less about the number of years and more about the proficiency in core competencies
The practice provides competitive salaries ranging from £40,000 to £65,000 per annum, depending on experience, for full-time positions.
The practice hours are from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm, with operation and consult hours between 9-12, 2-3:30, and 4:30 - 6:45.

In addition to the above, any extra skill brought to the team is a welcomed advantage, contributing to the practice's development and the breadth of services offered.
This role offers 5 weeks of holiday and a work context replete with state-of-the-art veterinary 'toys' that make procedures and diagnostics engaging and efficient.
If you have the skills and passion to contribute positively to a thriving team, we would love to hear from you. Please apply with your CV and cover letter, indicating your preferred working hours.
