Our client's thriving small animal surgery in Thurrock is seeking a lead veterinary surgeon to join their friendly and established team! The practice has experienced steady growth since its opening and is excited to celebrate its 10th birthday later this year. Situated near convenient access roads to major transport routes, including the A13 and M25. Accredited by RCVS, our client's practice recently renewed its PSS certification.
Operating in a purpose-built practice with state-of-the-art equipment, including digital X-rays, flexible endoscopes, and easy access to a 16-slice CT scanner and MRI scanner, our client's team benefits from a well-equipped endoscopy suite. They utilise minimally invasive procedures like bronchoscopy, gastro endoscopy, and colonoscopy, and have orthopaedic kits for routine surgeries such as cruciate repair and patella luxation. With a good ultrasound scanner featuring dual probes and a colour Doppler facility, our client offers abdominal and heart scans.
Handling a real variety of cases with a ratio of approximately 60:40 dogs to cats, our client performs orthopaedic procedures in-house, including patella luxation, cruciate surgeries with TPLO, and fracture repairs. These procedures can be conducted either onsite or at another local branch. Additionally, our client carries out a wide variety of soft tissue surgeries.
The successful candidate will join a supportive team consisting of 3 vets, 3 registered veterinary nurses, 2 student nurses, 2 veterinary care assistants, 5 client care advisors, 1 practice manager, and 1 business manager. With various individual interests within the team, including orthopaedics, internal medicine, and diagnostic imaging, our client offers a generous CPD allowance and is willing to support the sponsorship of certificates or further studies for the right candidate.
Our client seeks someone who can lead the team clinically under the supervision of the practice owner and is eager to progress and add more services to the practice. An additional interest in orthopaedic surgery will be advantageous. The role is full-time (41 hours) with a 1 in 3 - 4 weekend rota (Saturday and Sunday). There is no out-of-hours responsibility with this role; however, the candidate must be comfortable with some sole charge at weekends.
