Hannah Lewis

Colne, Lancashire, United Kingdom

Does a varying workload and in-house referrals sound like the perfect fit for you? If so, our client in Colne has a great opportunity for you.

Our client’s practice has plans in process for a mezzanine expansion to incorporate four consult rooms, a dental and imaging suite, a separate induction area, a prep room and lab room, a large colleague space, and a quiet waiting area. This is to support their colleagues and patients and work towards becoming a fear free practice.

Situated on the edge of town, with the M65 and train station only ¼ of a mile from the practice, and a regular bus every 30 minutes into Manchester City Centre, the location is ideal. The practice is located at the base of the Pennines, perfect for outdoor activities and walks in the Dales and Lakes on your days off.

The team includes a vet and practice owner supported by a great crew of two vets, a HVN, two RVNs, one SVN, four VCAs, and a reception team, led by an experienced Practice Manager on hand to support the whole team. This is a great opportunity for a colleague to join and gain experience with the option of partnership in the future if desired.

The practice owner, a GDP advisor, is experienced in mentoring new graduates and welcomes new ideas from colleagues. They have a good variety of clients and cases, with referrals available but they often handle in-house due to the client base. Equipment includes a Doppler ultrasound, operating loupes, electrosurgery unit, tonometry, dental x-ray, and a growing orthopaedic kit.

The practice is looking for a full-time vet but can also consider flexible hours for the right candidate. The rota includes one in three Saturdays (9 am-5:45 pm), no Sunday working or OOHs after 7 pm. They offer 20-minute sick pet consults (30 minutes for new graduates) and also provide over an hour of catch-up and admin time rostered into the day.

Socializing outside of work is encouraged to create a family-friendly environment within work, with events such as chippy tea nights, rounders games, a lambing party, and walks in the local hills on days off.

For this position, they can offer a salary of £35k for a new graduate or up to £65k for certificate holders, dependent upon experience.
