About the Candidate and the Role:
This position caters ideally to a veterinarian who is poised to step up into a leadership role or already occupies a similar position and seeks a fresh challenge and broader experience.
For seasoned candidates, proficiency in handling routine surgical and medical cases is preferred, with an interest in orthopaedics being beneficial though not mandatory. Given our high volume of exotic cases, we particularly seek a Head Veterinarian with robust experience in exotics. The ideal candidate should be eager to embrace a supportive role, showcasing adeptness in fostering strong bonds with clients, patients, and the team at large. Oversight of a team of 5 veterinarians involves providing clinical support and managing day-to-day operations. Prior experience in people management is advantageous.
This full-time role entails 40 hours per week on a rotational basis, with no out-of-hours commitments.
About Our Client:
Working alongside Partners Nicola Gray and Ignacio Martinez Robles, you'll join a welcoming team comprising 5 Vets, 5 Nurses, two student nurses, and 2 Animal Care Assistants.
Situated within a bustling Pets at Home store in the town centre, our location offers convenient perks such as free onsite parking, proximity to the train station, easy access to the M1, and just a 40-minute drive from both East Midlands Airport and Birmingham Airport.
As a small animal practice with a significant caseload of exotics, our modern and spacious facility boasts state-of-the-art equipment, including digital X-ray, an in-house laboratory, ultrasound, and multi-parameter monitoring.
What's On Offer:
- Bank holiday rotations are shared equally, averaging 3 to 4 per year
- Starting salary at £70,000, subject to experience
- Salary negotiation for experienced vets, to be discussed during the interview
- 4.6 weeks' annual holiday, increasing to 5.6 weeks after 2 years of service
- £1,500 CPD allowance, with CPD strongly encouraged
- RCVS/VDS fees covered
