We’re excited to be recruiting on behalf of a forward-thinking veterinary practice in North London, seeking a passionate and experienced Clinical Director to lead their talented team.
This is a standout opportunity for a senior Vet who’s ready to step into a pivotal leadership role — where you’ll shape the clinic’s success across clinical standards, team development, and business performance. You’ll have the autonomy to lead locally, backed by a wider leadership team that shares your ambition for positive change in the industry.
🩺 What You’ll Be Doing
As Clinical Director, you'll blend high-quality clinical work (around 80% of your time) with the strategic leadership of the practice. You’ll be the key decision-maker on clinical direction, performance, and culture, with line management responsibility for the vet team, Practice Director, and Nursing Director.
Your focus areas:
- Clinical Excellence
- Lead clinical governance, case quality, and innovation
- Promote evidence-based medicine and continuous learning
- Conduct clinical audits and identify new service opportunities
- Champion a team-first, collaborative environment
- Business Performance
- Oversee membership growth and client retention
- Drive local marketing, recruitment, H&S, and financial KPIs
- Budget ownership with support to break-even goals
- Ensure accurate pricing and full clinical billing
- Leadership & People Management
- Be the figurehead of the practice, setting the tone and standards
- Line manage senior team members through regular 1:1s and performance reviews
- Lead on culture, communication, inclusion, and team wellbeing
- Foster growth, recognition, and purpose across the whole clinic
- Wellbeing & Advocacy
- Build a supportive, open culture with wellbeing at the centre
- Promote psychological safety and mental health support
- Represent the clinic locally and within the wider profession
- Encourage team participation in community and outreach events
🧠 What We’re Looking For
- RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon
- Strong clinical experience and passion for high standards of care
- Proven leadership skills in a veterinary environment
- Confidence with budgeting, financial oversight, and practice KPIs
- Excellent communication, emotional intelligence, and coaching ability
- A collaborative mindset and a passion for shaping the future of practice
