Hospital Emergency & Critical Care – Day/Twilight Veterinary Surgeon (Wales)
A leading veterinary hospital in Wales is seeking a passionate and experienced veterinary surgeon to join their dedicated Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a vet with a keen interest in ECC to help expand a well-established service that provides 24/7 care for a large network of local practices. The role is based in a state-of-the-art hospital environment and offers access to an impressive and varied caseload, supported by a highly skilled clinical and support team.
The Role
This ECC position follows a rolling rota of 4 days on, 4 days off, ensuring a healthy work-life balance while maintaining clinical continuity. Shifts rotate between day and twilight, with permanent night vets in place—meaning no overnight work or on-call duties.
Key features:
Average 35.1-hour week
4-on/4-off rota: alternating between day and twilight shifts
No sole charge – always part of a team
Strong support from RVNs, ACAs, and reception team
Fully resourced for ECC care with excellent facilities
Clinical development and certificate study actively encouraged and fully funded

This multidisciplinary hospital encourages close collaboration between ECC and first opinion teams. The site is fully equipped, offering the tools and support needed to investigate and treat complex cases, while fostering professional growth.

Package & Benefits
Salary: Up to £70,000 (depending on experience)
35.1-hour average work week
Minimum 6.6 weeks holiday (inclusive of bank holidays) with options to buy/sell
Sick pay: 2 weeks full pay, 4 weeks half pay
5 days CPD with £1,750 budget
