A veterinary nurse from Hertfordshire and her partner are striding forward on a charity challenge in memory of a close friend.

Anna Samuels, who works at Linnaeus-owned Davies Veterinary Specialists near Hitchin, and her partner Paul, hope to complete the Peak District Ultra Challenge on July 6 in about five hours.

More importantly, they aim to raise awareness and funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association following the untimely death of Paul’s pal Alex Cooke from the cruel illness.

They haven’t set a target on how much they want to raise but hope that friends, family and colleagues will give them as much support as possible.

The Challenge will see Anna and Paul, who have already been training in the Peak District, trek 25km through the Derbyshire countryside before crossing the finishing line at Bakewell.

Anna, who is taking part in an Ultra Challenge for the first time, said: “Sadly Paul lost his friend Alex to Motor Neurone Disease last year so we are fundraising in his memory.

“We hope you can help us to raise some funds to research, and hopefully help others, beat this awful disease.”

Anyone wishing to donate to Anna and Paul’s fundraising effort, can do so by visiting their JustGiving page.
