CVS is launching a new app for veterinary locums who wish to conduct shift work within its practices.

The new CVS app will enable locums to view all available shifts, negotiate shift rates, book shifts, message practices and submit invoices for payment – all in one place.

The new app has been specifically developed for CVS, is unique to the group, and is owned by the company. It is powered by LocumBell technology.

When registering on the app, locums can input all of their preferences - including their skills, desired travel radius and preferred shift times - so that they are only served up shift advertisements relevant to them. Users can also set up notifications alerts for upcoming jobs.

The app then allows locums to set minimum shift rates, submit the rate they would like to receive for a shift, and to negotiate their fees directly with a practice.

Both booking and cancelling a shift can be easily completed on the app at the touch of a button. All upcoming booked shifts appear on the locum users’ calendar.

Once a shift has been completed, locums can easily submit the invoice for their work using the app. The platform offers the ability for the locum to see every CVS practice invoice and its status, all in one space.  Any invoice queries are able to be quickly resolved and faster payments enabled.

So that locums have direct contact with a practice throughout the whole process, the new CVS app also incorporates a handy ‘message’ button. This enables one-to-one chat and maintains personal connections.

The CVS app is being rolled out to all of its practices from this August, following a successful trial in two UK regions. This received positive feedback from all locums and practices involved.

Amy Hughes, Head of Recruitment at CVS, said: “Locum administration can be time consuming – as locums first have to identify work, liaise with a practice and our central support team, to negotiate and book a shift, then complete all invoice paperwork. We wanted to remove that pain and make it easier for locums to work with us.

“Our new CVS-owned app is designed to make this process quicker, more efficient and immediate – whilst still being able to have contact with each practice direct. We do hope that our locums enjoy using it. Locums will be able to see and book available shifts whilst on the move and at the tap of a button.”

To download the CVS Locum app, locums should visit the App Store or Play Store. For any technical difficulties or assistance, locums should contact [email protected] or call 0161 556 7685.

CVS Group operates across small animal, farm animal, equine, laboratories and crematoria, with over 500 veterinary practices and referral centres in the UK and Australia. In the last five years the company has invested nearly £80 million in its sites, facilities and equipment, in addition to industry leading training and support, to give the best possible care to animals.
