Davies Welcomes Five New Clinicians

Five new clinicians have been welcomed to Davies Veterinary Specialists (Davies), the Linnaeus-owned small animal referral hospital based in Hertfordshire. The new appointments reflect the hospital’s continued growth within multiple disciplines. Nick Grapes has joined as clinician in Veterinary Neurology, Luca Schiavo is the newest member of the Veterinary Oncology team, Clare Dagnall has joined the Anaesthesia team, Sofia Rapastella has been recruited to the Internal Medicine service and Krizia Compagnone has joined the Soft Tissue Surgery team.

Nick Grapes graduated from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), London in 2015 and spent three years working in small animal practice in Berkshire. He went on to complete a rotating internship and subsequent three-year residency in neurology and neurosurgery at the RVC before joining Davies in the summer of 2022. Nick is due to sit the diploma examination of the European College of Veterinary Neurology in January 2023.

Luca Schiavo graduated with honours from Perugia University in 2016 and then completed a scholarship in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine at Liverpool University. He went on to work in a busy primary-care practice before undergoing a small animal rotating internship at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket, followed by a residency in small animal oncology at Cambridge University. During this time Luca authored and co-authored several articles and to presented both nationally and internationally. He joined Davies during the summer of 2022.

Clare Dagnall graduated from the University of Bristol in 2015 and spent two and a half years in primary-care practice before moving into referral practice as an intern in anaesthesia. Clare completed her residency in small animal anaesthesia and analgesia at the University of Bristol in 2022 before moving to Davies Veterinary Specialists to work as a clinical anaesthetist.

Sofia Rapastella graduated from the University of Perugia, Italy in 2015 and moved to the UK to undertake a rotating and a medicine specific internship at Southfields Veterinary Specialists. She completed her ECVIM-CA residency programme between the Animal Health Trust and Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists before joining Davies in August 2022.

Krizia Compagnone graduated from the University of Naples in Italy in 2013 and spent almost five years in a small animal clinic as a soft tissue surgeon, while attending numerous surgical courses and externships in large hospitals. In 2017, Krizia gained a European Post-graduate Certificate in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery. She spent eight months practicing in the UAE, before moving to a small animal hospital in central London. She went on to complete a three-year residency programme in Small Animal Surgery in at Northwest Surgeons and joined Davies in September 2022 as a Soft Tissue Surgeon.
