Dechra has launched a new ‘They’ve got Cushing’s.  You’ve got us’ campaign to highlight the company’s comprehensive support for Vetoryl, the first veterinary-licensed treatment for Cushing’s in dogs.

The campaign demonstrates Dechra’s extensive experience in Cushing’s syndrome and the company’s investment in supporting Vetoryl, which has been on the market for 19 years with over 300 million capsules sold since its launch.

For every 100 cases of Cushing’s syndrome treated, a further 57 are suspected but not diagnosed1 with health issues just seen as symptomatic of dogs ‘getting old’ and owners are unable to spot the many varied signs of the disease which include hair loss, excessive urination, increased appetite, excessive panting and lethargy.  The launch of the campaign follows hot on the heels of a recent survey of 1,000 UK dog owners2 which revealed that up to 31% of owners may attribute symptoms of Cushing's to 'just old age' rather than seeking veterinary advice.

Dechra has a wide range of resources to support Vetoryl and the company’s 30+ technical experts across Europe receive over 2,500 technical calls each year on Cushing’s syndrome.  As part of the campaign and to make interaction with its technical team even easier, the company has updated the ‘contact us’ page on its Cushing’s Connect website, which supports vets with information from diagnosis to monitoring and includes FAQs.

The ‘They’ve got Cushing’s.  You’ve got us’ campaign will also encompass Dechra Academy, which provides a diverse range of free online interactive courses by leading experts, and Dechra’s new Endocrinology App which was developed using data from the Royal Veterinary College’s VetCompass database to help vets diagnose and manage the endocrine disorders Addison’s disease (hypoadrenocorticism) and Cushing’s syndrome.

To help pet owners who suspect their dog has Cushing’s, Dechra has a range of resources including its Suspecting Cushing’s website which includes a handy symptom checklist, together with the Cushing’s Monitoring App to help simplify the Cushing’s management process, improve compliance with medication and increase engagement in the dog’s care.

Sarah Musgrave, companion animal brand manager at Dechra, comments: “Dechra has extensive experience in endocrinology.  Cushing’s can be a challenge to identify, diagnose and manage and our ‘They’ve got Cushing’s.  You’ve got us’ initiative demonstrates the comprehensive support that we have available for both vets and dog owners to help ensure that dogs with Cushing’s live long and healthy lives.”
