A veterinary practice in Kings Heath near Birmingham has doubled in size after investing more than £200,000 to create one of the most advanced facilities of its kind in the area.

White Cross Vets, which is located on Alcester Road South, has expanded into a neighbouring unit and now covers approximately 5,000 sq ft, as a direct result of increased demand for its services from pet owners in the local area.

As part of the refurbishment, the practice now offers five consulting rooms, compared to three previously, as well as a second operating theatre and a state-of-the-art dental suite and ultrasound facility. The waiting area has also doubled in size and separate dog and cat waiting areas have been incorporated into the design.

White Cross Vets, which is part of IVC Evidensia, opened in Kings Heath in 2009 and the practice is now headed up by clinic director, Dominic Waller, who lives in the town after recently relocating from Northampton. Dominic qualified as a vet in 2008 after studying at Cambridge and has also worked in Oxfordshire and Reading.

He said: “In recent years our client base has grown significantly throughout Kings Heath and beyond, meaning we had outgrown our previous premises. This investment has created a superb veterinary practice that is now much more comfortable and spacious for the pets we treat.

“In addition to separate dog and cat waiting areas, we also have modern new kennel areas which all helps to create a pleasant and relaxed environment for pets. We can also significantly increase the numbers of patients we treat and the range of procedures we offer, while maintaining the high levels of care and service that we are renowned for, now that we have two operating theatres, as well as dental and ultrasound suites.

“The practice already has a well-established team of 14 vets and nurses, in addition to our client care coordinators, who are all firmly focussed on offering the best patient care possible. This expansion now gives us the potential to expand further and we could grow our team of vets to eight, as the practice’s popularity increases, which makes it a very exciting time for us.”

White Cross Vets, which is part of IVC Evidensia, has been caring for pets for 85 years. Established in West Yorkshire in 1937 it now employs a 240 strong team across 22 practices in the UK.
