Methadone and its role in pain management will be the focus of a series of CPD events being offered by Dechra Veterinary Products at venues across the UK.
The ten sessions, which last around two hours and are free to attend, will be presented by key opinion leaders as part of Dechra's ongoing commitment to supporting the development of veterinary professionals.
The session presenters are Dr Jo Murrell BVSc, PhD(Bristol), DipECVA, MRCVS, Prof. Derek Flaherty BVMS, DVA, DipECVAA, MRCA, MRCVS, FHEA, and Kate White MA Vet MB DVA Dipl ECVAA MRCVS.
Dechra Veterinary Products Brand Manager, Craig Sankey, said: “Methadone is ideally suited to treat cats and dogs in moderate to severe pain, particularly when used as part of a multi-modal analgesia technique.
“We are confident that these CPD sessions will provide reassurance on the use of methadone by explaining the benefits of using full mu agonist opioids to provide analgesia as well as encouraging practices to ensure their pain management protocols are up to date.”
Dechra, which markets the UK's only vet licenced methadone, Comfortan®, is holding the CPD events in Birmingham on June 4; Exeter on June 11; Gatwick on June 19; Basingstoke on June 25, Hertford on July 3; Stirling on July 9; Newcastle-upon-Tyne on July 10; Manchester on July 16 and Cambridge on July 17.
The events all start with registration at 7pm, followed by a buffet. The presentation will start at 8pm and finish at 10pm.
