Cat advocate Lisa Bourke has spearheaded MyVet Celbridge’s cat-friendly status.
MyVet Celbridge Practice Recognised For Care Of Cats
A recently opened veterinary clinic in Kildare has been recognised for its high-quality care for cats.
Linnaeus-owned MyVet in Celbridge, which also has two popular practices in Dublin and another in Maynooth, has been recognised as a silver level cat-friendly clinic (CFC) by the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM).
MyVet veterinary nurse and cat advocate Lisa Bourke said the coveted award was recognition of their state-of-the-art facilities and determination to deliver the highest standards of care for all cats.
She said: “We’re delighted to have been accredited as a silver ISFM practice, especially just two months after opening.
“We recognise cats have specific needs and it’s important to us to demonstrate our commitment to the animals our clients entrust into our care.
“We’ve put a number of cat-friendly practices into place to ensure our feline patients and their owners have the best experience possible.”
The practice promotes ‘cat-friendly handling’ while there is also a dedicated waiting area in which carriers can be covered, and calming pheromone diffusers are used.
Team members also complete further feline training, kennels are fitted with hiding places to make cats feel more secure and toys are used for enrichment.
The ISFM launched the cat-friendly clinic initiative to encourage veterinary clinics to make changes to improve the welfare of cats in their care.
The programme advises practices on how to make their environment as welcoming as possible for cats, as well as providing support in staff training, handling techniques and cat-specific client care - and MyVet in Celbridge is the latest Linnaeus-owned practice to be recognised by them.
MyVet is a group of veterinary practices in Dublin and Kildare, with clinics in Firhouse, Lucan, Maynooth and now in Celbridge. For more information, visit https://www.myvet.ie.
