One of the UK’s leading small animal hospitals, Willows Veterinary Centre and Referral Service in Solihull, has joined forces with Birmingham Dogs Home (BDH) to support the charity with world class care.

The partnership will see the state-of-the-art Linnaeus-owned hospital deliver expert care and treatment to some of the city’s most vulnerable dogs, in addition to the current provision of out-of-hours emergency care, as well as supporting it with various community events such as its family fun day on June 22.

Willows, which starred in Channel 5’s popular “The Dog Hospital” TV show, has signed an initial one-year partnership with BDH, which is the Midlands’ leading dog welfare charity.

Willows’ hospital director Tom Reilly said: “We are so excited to be working with this fantastic charity.

“We have worked closely with Birmingham Dogs Home over the last year and our team has been truly moved by the amazing work this charity does in caring for dogs that have had such difficult lives.

“Many of the dogs they receive as strays have untreated medical conditions and are very poorly.

“We already work closely with the charity’s own veterinary team to provide additional specialist support for complex cases, however, we felt moved to do even more.

“So now our whole team is committed to doing all we can to provide the best medical care possible, to give dogs that have suffered so much already the best chance of a long, healthy life.”

Hayley Gee, manager of the BDH rescue centres, said: “This is a perfect partnership for our charity.

“Like Willows’ team, our carers are working round the clock, every day of the year to provide the very best quality care to get the best possible outcomes for every dog.

“At present, we have more than 200 dogs residing at our two rescue centres adding strain and financial pressures to our charity.

“We don’t receive any government funding, so having the generous support of Willows will be life-changing for some of the dogs in our care.”

Fi Harrison, BDH head of fundraising and communications, added: “We are thrilled Willows has shown its commitment to helping us as ‘Platinum Business Patrons’.

“As well as providing world-class care for some of our most critically ill dogs, Willows will also be supporting us in lots of other ways to help raise awareness for our cause.

“They are a fantastic team and we are delighted to be working together even more closely.”

Birmingham Dogs Home helps to rescue, reunite, and re-home all the stray and abandoned dogs across the West Midlands and South Staffordshire Area, caring for around 2,000 dogs each year.

Established in1892, the charity receives no Government funding and solely relies on the generosity of its supporters whilst providing this essential service. To find out more visit www.birminghamdogshome.org.uk
