The Pet Parasite Action is now in full swing backed by over 1400 vet practices around the UK. Lynda Maris, NexGard™ Spectra Product Manager says that the campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the rising threat from ticks and lungworm, as well as other parasites that can endanger the health of pets and their owners such as Toxocara, is reaching millions of pet owners.

The campaign highlights include 1,500 packs sent out to practices as well as digital tool kits.

A radio day with TV and radio presenter Jenni Falconer and Merial vet Mike Woodhouse reached the ears of nearly 3 million listeners and 16 radio stations from BBC Radio Guernsey in the south, all the way up to Waves radio in Peterhead and Aberdeen. The message to come across loud and clear was: ask your vet about pet parasites and find out how to help protect your pet and your family.

A radio advertising campaign promoted through Newslink, which broadcasts to 287 stations including: Kiss, Capital, Star, Magic, Talk Sport, Classic and Absolute and has a weekly audience of 27 million, also raises awareness about the risks from pet parasites and clearly calls for pet owners to get to their vet.

There’s a regional press and blogger outreach campaign reaching hundreds of thousands of pet owners. While on social media there’s a lot for practices to share – from competitions to educational content. In the last 28 days alone, the Facebook page @petparasiteaction has reached almost 1 million unique users and in the same period 25,000 unique users have received Twitter content from @petparasiteact

Practices can also direct their clients to the campaign website www.petparasiteaction.co.uk where participating practices can be found by clients and prospective clients using a geo-locator button.

As Pet Parasite Action runs throughout June and July there’s still time to take part and experience the benefits. Practices can find out more from their Merial Territory Manager, or by calling Merial on 0870 6000 123.
