Zoetis Partners With BVNA To Champion The Role Of The RVN
Zoetis UK Ltd today announced a new partnership with its Companion Animal business and the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA). It reflects the commitment of both parties to work together to champion the role of the veterinary nursing profession plus those working in veterinary care assistance positions, in the advancement of care for small animals.
The BVNA is the largest membership body of veterinary nurses in the UK with over 6,000 members. Its purpose is to represent, support and champion the veterinary nursing profession.
Zoetis discovers, develops, manufactures and commercialises a diverse portfolio of animal health medicines and vaccines designed to meet the real-world needs of veterinarians and the companion animal owners they support, providing the opportunity for the BVNA to work in partnership with a pharmaceutical manufacturer driven by a singular purpose: to nurture our world and humankind by advancing care for animals.
The partnership will involve Zoetis sharing knowledge with BVNA members, via webinars, regional CPD events and the Veterinary Nursing Journal (VNJ), in addition to supporting and attending the 2024 BVNA Congress. The educational partnership initiatives have been developed after Zoetis market research showed that 8 in 10 veterinary nurses were interested in CPD support on the topic of parasiticides.
Louise Longstaff, National Veterinary Manager - Companion Animal, at Zoetis, said: “We are excited to partner with the veterinary nursing profession in this way. Veterinary nurses, alongside veterinary care assistants, all play a key role in the ongoing health and welfare of clients’ pets and as the backbone of every practice, they are to be applauded for all that they do. We are delighted to be able to announce this new initiative so soon after Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month (VNAM) and are proudly looking forward to delivering to the extended needs of RVNs as a reflection of our recent market research.”
BVNA President Lyndsay Hughes commented: “We are delighted to collaborate with Zoetis on this new initiative. This partnership fully aligns with our commitment to promote the vital work of veterinary nurses in upholding animal welfare, plus those in wider veterinary care roles. We look forward to working together to enhance our offering to BVNA members, across many of our educational activities as an association.”
