This comprehensive course is designed for veterinary professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills in diagnosing and managing endocrine emergencies in critically ill cats and dogs. Participants will gain in-depth insights into the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic approaches, and therapeutic management of various endocrine emergencies, including diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS), pheochromocytoma, Addison’s disease, and thyroid storm.
Topics to be covered include:
Pathophysiology and clinical signs of common endocrine emergencies in cats and dogs. (DKA, HHS, pheochromocytoma, Addison’s, thyroid storm)
Diagnosing endocrine emergencies through laboratory tests, imaging, and clinical examination.
Management strategies for stabilising and treating critically ill patients with endocrine disorders.
