CVS’ Ayres Veterinary Hospital has relocated to a huge 6,000 square foot purpose-built practice in Newcastle Quays, North Shields.

Over £2 million has been invested to modernise, upgrade and extend the surgery.

The new property will enable the practice to expand the range of clinical services it offers to pets in the locality. It will also significantly increase the number of clients it is able to serve in the local community.

The new modern building is all on one level and will house upgraded client and patient facilities, along with the latest veterinary equipment.

Five consulting rooms are housed in the site, along with two spacious operating theatres. A new CT scanner has been installed to allow more precise views of bones and internal organs allowing more accurate diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of conditions. The site also features a dental suite, digital x-ray and ultrasound facilities, an in-house laboratory and an isolation ward for very sick animals.

In addition, the new Ayres veterinary practice has a spacious reception with separate waiting areas for cats and dogs, in addition to separate dog, cat and exotics hospital wards - to keep patient stress to a minimum. Brand new walk-in kennels have also been constructed for large dog breeds.

The newly opened practice is prominently located in Newcastle Quays which is on multiple public transport routes. It has its own separate entrance to provide easy access and ample parking for clients and animal patients. Full disabled access has also been built.

To staff the practice, five vets will collectively offer an increased range of veterinary services. Seven veterinary nurses, eight clinical support staff and eight receptionists are part of the 31 strong team, who will look after the practice’s increased number of clients and their pets.

The previous Ayres Vets Practice was based on Ayres Terrace, North Shields. The new site will work closely and complement the range of services already offered by Ayres Vets practices in Cleadon, Cramlington and Whitley Bay.
