Four Finalists From IVC Evidensia In The 21st Pet Plan Veterinary Awards
The finalists have been announced for the 21st Pet Plan Awards and IVC Evidensia are very proud that four of the finalists are part of the group.
The finalists have fought off some very stiff competition to get this far with over 7,500 nominations across the categories, more than double the number received last year. Often referred to as the veterinary ‘Oscars’, the event recognises those who inspire their clients and colleagues with their hard work and dedication, celebrating excellence within the veterinary profession.
Marion Hines of Manor Vet Clinic is a finalist in the Practice Manager of the Year category. She has a wealth of practice experience, joining the practice in 1977 as a secretary and then going on to being a nurse. She left to have her son in 1981 and was asked back for 3 months in 1992 to ‘help out’ on reception. The three months got extended and she is still there now, promoting to Practice Manager in 2005. She said,
“I was really shocked when I found out that I had been nominated, and very humbled that someone would think enough of me to nominate me for doing my job.”
Martin McGovern of Fenaghy Veterinary Clinic is also a finalist in the Practice Manager of the Year category. He joined the team at Fenaghy in 2017 as Practice Manager. With a Bernese mountain dog, a herd of beef cattle and a herd of sheep at home, Martin is definitely in the right industry! He said he felt honoured to have been nominated and shocked to be a finalist.
Dawn Prime of Wherry Veterinary Group is no stranger to awards, having been named as National SQP of the Year at the National SQP Awards for 2019. Now she is a finalist in the Practice Support Staff of the Year category at this year’s Pet Plan Awards. Dawn has always been passionate about animal health and welfare, spending a lot of time with her father on the farm as she was growing up. Dawn said,
“I feel very honoured and surprised to be nominated for this award. I am extremely proud of my recent achievements, not just for me but for our fantastic practice too!”
Lindsay Henry of Kessock Equine Vets is a finalist in the Vet of the Year category. There were over 2000 nominations for this category. Lindsay has been working as an equine vet at Kessock for 2 years. She started working in a rural mixed practice once she qualified but knew that equine was where her passion was. She said,
"When I received the nominations in the post I was delighted, it brightened up my day. Then, when I got the phone call to inform me I was one of the finalists I was completely overwhelmed! I am beyond delighted and so appreciative of the clients who took the time to nominate me. I am very passionate about veterinary medicine and animal welfare as a whole and thoroughly enjoy being able to work in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland."
All four finalists will need to wait until the end of April to find out how they got on in their individual categories.
