Somerset Animal Hospital Praised By MP
MP for Taunton Deane, Rebecca Pow has praised a Wellington animal hospital after a guided tour of the state-of-the-art veterinary centre.
Ms Pow, who is also the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), was given a behind-the-scenes tour of Linnaeus-owned Cave Veterinary Specialists by clinical director Nele Van den Steen.
The referral centre saw a major £500,000 refurbishment in 2022, which is now benefitting patients, clients and staff.
Among the improvements to support increased demand for its services was the creation of three new consultation rooms, a brand-new reception area and a remodelled car park.
Ms Pow said: “I was pleased to meet the dedicated team of veterinary nurses and specialist vets at Cave Veterinary Specialists in West Buckland where I saw firsthand the state-of-the-art facilities available and the professional surgical and medical care provided for cats and dogs from across the Southwest.
“This is a first-class facility located in Taunton Deane, employing over 100 caring and committed staff. It was fascinating to have a close look at the service provided and indeed meet some of the patients undergoing treatment. This facility demonstrates the expertise available in the region in this highly specialised area.
“Indeed, when our pets are ill, we want the best possible medical care for them, and I was genuinely impressed by the scale, facilities and talented team at Cave who I met today.”
Clinical director Nele Van den Steen said Cave’s refurbished animal hospital is a clear signal it is committed to delivering the highest level of excellence in treatment and care.
Nele said: “We were very pleased to welcome Rebecca to Cave, which is one of the best-equipped veterinary centres in the south-west of England, with an extensive range of expertise in a wide variety of disciplines all under one roof.”
Stuart Ford-Fennah, operations manager at Cave, said: “It was an absolute delight to show Rebecca around our facility. Rebecca took such a keen interest in our nurses, vets, patient care assistants and, of course, the animals under our care. We were so pleased to be able to showcase the fabulous work our team does on a daily basis for our patients.”
Cave offers comprehensive, specialist-led services in anaesthesia, cardiology, dermatology, internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, oncology, orthopaedic surgery and soft tissue surgery.
